Happy World Autism Awareness Day!
For many autistic families, today is just another day of creative troubleshooting, managing sensory overload, and navigating a world not built for their kiddo’s disability. Each one advocates for themselves and for their diagnosed children, hoping to foster better understanding, acceptance and inclusion for autistic individuals in today’s society.
Some people believe autism is a one-size-fits-all disorder and it really isn’t! There’s a vast difference between individuals on the autism spectrum. Just like a fingerprint, autistic people are wonderfully and beautifully unique. Some excel at school and go on to become lawyers or doctors, some need partial supports in place in order to succeed, whilst others need 24/7 care for their entire lives. But ALL should be accepted and celebrated for exactly who they are! All autistic voices matter, even those who cannot speak
